Vancouver Art History

Moon Base was once a self-supported gallery that was owned and operated by Mark Pilon and Jodi Jacyk. It was located in the Bodega Building on Gastown's historic Carrall Street from 1997-2002. It was also the original home of Cycloptic Studio. Over that time we hosted over fifty shows and had hundreds of artists exhibit on our walls. We were primarily focused on illustration-based art, but also exhibited photography, textiles, glass, craft, and hand-made jewlery. The people who supported us over the years were amazing and always gave us big turnouts at openings. We had lots of fun supporting artists who never really had a chance in the "institutional" art world.
We are still interested in one-off-events, every now and then we pull the moon out of storage, put the open sign in a window and let people in. So keep checking back for our activities and help keep the base alive.
