Happy Thanksgiving

Canadian Thanksgiving is a little different than the American version. I think it has less to do with history and more to do with end of harvest celebrations. In any case, a big hearty meal is always welcome and as a side note I couldn't figure out of to work in a Tofurki so my apologies to all the vegetarians. I drew in plenty of veggies to make everyone happy. Enjoy.

Year of the Labbit

labbit_atomos_blog.jpg

Year of the Labbit is a group show featuring Frank Kozik's Labbit toy by Kidrobot. The exhibition opens Thursday, July 14th, 2011 at the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. I called my Labbit "Bulles" after his simple innocent expression and champaign bubble texture. The show will be on display from July 14 - September 11. All pieces will be available for sale through the Museum Store. BUY

Sputnik Plunk

I'm opening up my latest show at the Harold Golen Gallery in Miami on May 8th, 2010. The exhibition is called Sputnik Plunk (space junk). It's a compilation of space dreams and multi-coloured worlds. There are some familiar themes and some new surprises in this show so please give it a glance. I'm planning on being in attendance for the opening so please help by visiting my Annual Spring Studio Sale for my Miami fundraiser. Please help get me to Miami.

For those who always ask a show preview will be posted here a week before the opening date so keep checking back.
This will be the last figure-based show for 2010. I'm going to finish off the season by concentrating on some contemporary work that I've been itching to start. Seems like there is a positive to an economic down-turn because it's lending me some time to experiment and have some fun with some large scale pieces.

Enjoy the show - Mister Atomos

Cycloptic Studio's 4th Annual Painting Sale

I just launched my 4th Annual Cycloptic Studio Sale for 2010. This year I'm trying to raise enough money to finish my spring shows (paint isn't cheap) and get myself to Miami for the Harold Golen opening on May 8th. It's been a challenging economic season and I have to keep this art train rolling. I get art supplies, you get cheap art. Good deal huh? Included in this years show are some older framed pieces and quite a few of my 6" MINI paintings. Prices include shipping within Canada & the U.S.A. International shipping will need to be quoted. Each piece comes in a blonde-wood frame and is sealed under glass for your protection (excluding MINI's which are painted on cradled canvas). Please no holds, barters, or bargaining. First come first serve. Sale ends May 1st, 2010.

Shiny Fuzzy Muddy + Blocky

This frosty weekend I'll be participating in the 10th Annual Shiny Fuzzy Muddy show, which has always been one of my favourite Vancouver Christmas events. I was honoured that they asked me to participate this in year's collection. As you know I don't do a lot of Vancouver shows so come down and meet me in the flesh. I'll be showing some of my MINI paintings as well at selling our Atomic Juice Company children's wear. Admission is free and there's an opening party Saturday night from 7-9pm.

Sale hours:
Saturday, December 12, 2009 - 11am - 9 pm
Sunday, December 13, 2009 -11am - 7 pm

Rotten Rudy Rides Again

I had a few people at the Victoria scooter rally this year ask about Rotten Rudy, the fedora wearing skull-head I designed in the mid 90's. I used to hand him out at rally's in hope that people would stick them on their Vespa's or Lambrettas and send me photos. Over the years I collected quite a few photos of Rotten Rudy on all sorts of vehicles in North America and Europe. So when I was asked to be apart of the Los Vesparados show in Minneapolis this year I decided to resurected Rudy for one last ride.

Los Vesparados opens June 13th, 2009 at 6:00pm and shows for the weekend. It will be in the gallery on the third floor of the Northrup King Building, 1500 Jackson St. NE in Minneapolis.
